About Me

Hi! My name is Veronica Spak and I am an undergraduate student at the University of Maryland. I plan on graduating in 2015 with a B.A.  in communication and a minor in Spanish. As a Glencoe, Ill., native, going to school in Maryland was a huge change for me, and I couldn’t be happier with my decision to attend class in College Park.

In Spring ’12, I became a member of Delta Phi Epsilon, Delta Xi and served on our Executive Board as the VP of Academic Affairs for the Spring ’13 and Fall ’13 semesters. Education has always been one of my top priorities and I loved encouraging sisters to feel the same.

I have a passion for sports, especially ice hockey, and dream of owning my own team one day (I dream big). During Summer 2012, I participated in a study abroad program on sports globalization and marketing in London for two weeks. This program reinforced how much I want to work in the industry. Since that program, I have interned for CBS Sports, Monumental Sports and Entertainment, the New York Red Bulls, D.C. United and Formula Strategy Group.

Aside from sports, I love traveling, skiing and dancing. My love for travel and adventure pushed me to study abroad in Madrid, Spain for the Spring 2014 semester. I studied at Universidad Antonio de Nebrija, or what Spaniards simply call “Nebrija.” I am so fortunate to have had this opportunity to focus on improving my Spanish as well as travel and see the world in a whole new way. Living in Spain, traveling to new cities and learning about new cultures almost every weekend taught me how important it is to step outside your comfort zone and expand your horizons. Studying abroad is one experience that I will carry with me throughout the next stages of my life.

As I have completed my education at the University of Maryland, I could not be more excited to start the next chapter of my life in the workforce. I am now working as a Summer Insider intern at MSLGROUP in New York in their Business Development department. After that, I hope to continue to work in the public relations industry, whether it’s for a sports organization, a PR agency or a travel-oriented organization.
